Kit lists

What should you take on a day out in the UAE or Oman?

Well, the answer depends on  where, when, for how long, who with, time of year & numerous other factors. The below guidelines are exactly that guidelines, each venture outside the safety of ones home or office should be considered carefully and all the risks examined before deciding what to take. The environment in the UAE & Oman can be harsh, with summer desert temperatures of over 50 degrees celcius breaking down in car away from a main road could have dire consequences. A mobile phone and bottle of water should get you through but what about when you venture into the mountains or desert on foot. We consider the below listed items the absolute minimum.

Note on drinks – Water alone does not replace the minerals we loose through perspiration, it is wise to either add re-hydration powder to your water or replace some of your water with isotonic.

Note on bottles - Plastic bottles are bad for our environment and liable to damage unless carried inside a rucksack. Please consider using reusable durable drinks containers.
